Jesus was more eager to see Zacchaeus than Zacchaeus was to see Jesus. Zacchaeus was changed not only by what Jesus saw in him, but also by what he saw in Jesus. The crowd saw two things: (1) They were scandalized that a religious leader like Jesus would go home with a Tax Collector. (2) They saw Zacchaeus emerge from this encounter as a new man.
