  • Lord of the Earth

    01/11/2013 Duración: 44min

The story of Noah and the flood is about second chances and new beginnings; God is ready to give us another chance. God calls us into three great relationships: with the earth, with all the people on earth, and with himself, the Lord of the Earth. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on December 10, 2000. Series "Genesis - The Gospel According to God". Scripture: Genesis 9:1-17

  • A Covenant Relationship

    09/10/2013 Duración: 30min

The great tension of the Old Testament is the seemingly ambiguous status of God's covenant with His people. Sometimes God speaks as if He will bless Israel irrespective of whether or not they keep the statues of His covenant. Other times the blessing appears to be conditional upon their obedience. This deep tension is resolved through the cross. Jesus takes upon Himself the curse for breaking the covenant. Meanwhile, all of us who have disobeyed the covenant receive - through faith in Christ - the reward that Jesus deserved for keeping the covenant. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on September 9, 2007. Series "The New Heart God Gives". Scripture: Deuteronomy 29:2-4, 9-18

  • Beholding the Love of God

    09/10/2013 Duración: 31min

Knowing God is not an anti-rational mystical experience. Knowing God occurs when the truth overflows from your mind into your entire being. Knowing God is when the truth you’ve heard a thousand times becomes experientially real, and you marvel at the miracle of God’s love for us. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on April 2, 1995. Series "Knowing that We Know God; 1 John, Part 2". Scripture: 1 John 3:1-3

  • The Jealousy of God

    29/08/2013 Duración: 33min

Modern people are often uncomfortable when the Bible speaks of God’s jealousy. Yet, God’s jealousy is intimately related to God’s love toward us. The relationship that God calls us to is not merely one of subjects obeying a king. Rather, God calls us into a marriage relationship with Him, and His jealousy is spousal. God seeks a relationship with us that is characterized by priority, fidelity, and intimacy. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on March 27, 2011. Series "To Know the Living God; The God Who Makes Alive". Scripture: Exodus 20:1-6

  • Basis of Prayer: "Our Father"

    31/05/2013 Duración: 35min

The proper basis for prayer is to approach God as our loving, Heavenly Father and to view our relationship with him as a family relationship - not a business relationship. To be able to pray with this kind of confidence, we need to know that we have been adopted as his children, with all the privileges that entails, by the sacrificial death of his only begotten Son, Jesus. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on April 23, 1995. Series "The Lord's Prayer 1995". Scripture: Matthew 6:6-15

  • Come and See

    02/05/2013 Duración: 44min

Do we see Jesus as he is or merely as we would like to see him? That same question goes for religious people and skeptics alike. For skeptics and seekers “come and see” means to come, think, and examine the evidence. For Christians “come and see” means to come and be a disciple of Jesus. We may think we are following him when in reality we are just following our own hearts. Coming to Jesus with a heart that seeks to see him as he wants to be seen opens the way to a life-changing encounter. Come and see. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on November 15, 1998. Series "John - On Knowing the Christ". Scripture: John 1:35-51

  • Peace – Overcoming Anxiety

    10/04/2013 Duración: 41min

A lot of us are cast down because we don't expect the attacks on our peace and joy that are inevitable. Much of the depression we experience is depression over our depression. We're sad that we're sad. We're surprised that we're surprised. We're upset that we're upset. Part of being upset is the anger, the guilt, and the frustration we experience as we say, "It's not supposed to be like this!" The Bible takes a positive but realistic view toward facing and overcoming the very real adversaries to inner peace. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 18, 1990. Series "Fruit of the Spirit". Scripture: Philippians 4:4-9

  • The Crucifixion

    12/03/2013 Duración: 26min

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Jesus howled this agonized cry at his execution. How could any good come from such a seemingly horrible end? Timothy Keller ponders the depths of what is surely most horrible, yet most wonderful question ever asked. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on April 1, 2012. Series "Savior and Teacher - A Study of Matthew". Scripture: Matthew 27:45-56

  • Imitating the Incarnation

    01/02/2013 Duración: 39min

Many people today believe that Jesus never claimed to be God. They think Jesus was merely a wise teacher whose followers later deified him. Yet, key passages such as Philippians 2 demonstrate that from the very beginning of Christianity, Jesus was worshiped as God. In our lives, we can only see Jesus’ love for us once we realize that he is God. Jesus left the perfect love of the Trinity in order to serve us. He then sends His disciples out into the world, to follow in his footsteps, to serve and sacrificially love others. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on July 2, 1995. Series "Philippians". Scripture: Philippians 2:3-11

  • Peace

    30/11/2012 Duración: 37min

Christian peace is not the absence of troubles. It is a peace that is unshakeable even in the midst of troubles. During difficult times, Christians are called to remember the living God who works out all things for good for those who love Him. If we set our heart on anything besides God, we can lose our peace. But if our greatest love is the unchanging God, then our peace can never be taken from us. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on April 25, 2010. Series "The Real Signs of the Spirit". Scripture: Philippians 4:4-12

  • Born into Hope

    05/11/2012 Duración: 39min

Without hope, it is all but impossible face life and endure suffering. But hope must be grounded in something real and lasting. True hope enables us to navigate both sorrow and joy. In Jesus Christ, we have a living hope grounded and sustained in an ever-living savior. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 4, 2001. Series "The Radical Imperative; A New Birth". Scripture: 1 Peter 1:3-9

  • Love and Lust

    08/10/2012 Duración: 34min

The Bible presents a more attractive and comprehensive view of sexuality than is generally understood. The headings explored in this sermon include the integrity of sex, the challenge of lust and the future of love. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on May 6, 2012. Series "Savior and Teacher - A Study of Matthew". Scripture: Matthew 5:27-30

  • Questions of Suffering

    01/08/2012 Duración: 33min

No book in all of literature addresses the questions of suffering and evil with the spiritual wisdom of the book of Job. In this sermon, Timothy Keller demonstrates how the Christian approach to suffering differs from both cynical and moralistic viewpoints. Christians are called to hold onto the mystery and stay in a relationship with a God we cannot control—but whose goodness we cannot doubt when we truly grasp the Gospel. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on January 6, 2008. Series "Job - A Path Through Suffering". Scripture: Job 1:8-22

  • Spiritual Warfare

    03/07/2012 Duración: 36min

Modern people are uncomfortable with the existence of evil, let alone the existence of the Devil. Yet, the Bible teaches that we cannot fully understand the world we live in unless we realize that there are supernatural agents of evil. But it is not enough to believe in the Devil; a Christian must study his methods. Satan practices evil subtly. He tempts and accuses people rather than overthrowing their will. Temptation is when the Devil asks us to ignore the holiness of God. Accusation is when he blinds us to the love and grace of God. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on January 29, 2012. Series "A Study of Ephesians: Who is the Church?". Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-13

  • Justified by Faith

    25/05/2012 Duración: 37min

Justification is not merely an abstract theological concept. Rather, it is the sense of approval and belonging that every person desires. Justification is not only that we have our sins forgiven, but that in God’s eyes we are given Jesus’ perfect record. We are treated as if we had lived the perfect life that Jesus lived. We are given the love that Jesus deserved. We have the same access to the Father that Jesus did. The best news is that all of this comes not from us doing anything at all, but simply by faith. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on March 8, 2009. Series "Bible: The Whole Story - Redemption and Restoration". Scripture: Romans 3:21-28

  • The Ascension

    02/04/2012 Duración: 40min

The Ascension of Jesus Christ “takes what Jesus was and did on Earth, and releases it into the universe and into (our) lives with all of its healing power.” In this sermon, Timothy Keller shows us the power, the nature and the meaning of the Ascension, and what difference it makes for our lives. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on May 18, 1997. Series "The Real Jesus Part 4; The Lord". Scripture: Acts 1:1-12

  • Jesus Our King

    06/03/2012 Duración: 41min

We naturally have a love/hate relationship with kings. For thousands of years, myths and legends have centered on the return of a noble king who will rule the people justly. Yet, submitting to a king means that we have to subordinate our own will to the king—and no one yearns for that. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on December 12, 1993. Series "Understanding Jesus". Scripture: Psalm 2

  • Authentic Christianity

    31/01/2012 Duración: 43min

In the conclusion to the sermon on the mount, Jesus challenges everyone. He challenges those who don’t attend church by telling them that not all roads lead to God. He challenges those inside the church by telling them that not everyone who calls him “Lord, Lord” will be saved. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 28, 1993. Series "Lent - Nature of Sin". Scripture: Matthew 7:13-27

  • Our Work and Our Character

    01/01/2012 Duración: 39min

What is the connection between faith and work? The Bible affirms the goodness of creation and therefore the goodness of work. In this sermon, we see how even 1st century slaves found dignity in their work through the Gospel. Yet, the Gospel provides us not only with the motivation to work but with the ability to rest—because the ultimate work is not dependent upon us, but has already been performed by Jesus. This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on October 17, 2010. Series "The Gospel and the World". Scripture: Ephesians 5:21, 6:5-9

  • God with Us

    03/12/2011 Duración: 33min

What does it mean to say God is with us? The meaning of Christmas is that the Creator of the universe has become a human being. It means that the terrifying God who appeared in the Old Testament as a whirlwind and a fire has become a vulnerable baby in order to be close to us. What, in turn, will we do in order to be close to Him? This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on December 22, 1991. Series "Advent 1991". Scripture: Matthew 1:18-25
