In the case of The Valley of Fear, one of these identifications was made early on by Harold Wilmerding (H.W.) “Cut out the poetry, Watson” [RETI]      The Hound of the Baskervilles holds a special place for many people. It is a gothic tale of horror, mystery, and the supernatural.
