This was a fun conversation with John Pagonis, who owns and operates the Guthrie Haunts Scaregrounds and the Drexel Event Center in Guthrie. John is what you might call a chronic entrepreneur. Always has an idea. Always working on something. Now he's developing one of the downtown Guthrie buildings too.  

The Hit The Bricks crew had a blast talking with Dr. Mike Simpson, Superintendent of Guthrie Public Schools. Incredible to see how far GPS has come, and their vision for the future is pretty contagious. Quality of life and quality of schools are inseparable, so thanks to Dr. Simpson for stopping by and chatting with Chris & Justin about how those things are moving Guthrie forward.

Erin Brown, Curator of Collections for the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, stopped by Hit The Bricks HQ to enlighten Justin & Chris about the top-shelf exhibit the museum has on the history of Woman's Suffrage in the United States. It's the 100 year anniversary of the 19th Amendment, and the Territorial Museum has put some pretty cool stuff together to celebrate.

Jerome Stevenson, Artistic Director for the Pollard Theatre, talks about their upcoming season of shows (their 33rd season!), plus a great conversation about the impact of the Pollard on the Guthrie community. Jerome also has some wonderful thoughts on the importance of live theatre and its affect on audiences and culture.

The HTB crew had a real good time goofing off with Heady Coleman, talking about this weekends events in Guthrie. Red Brick Nights brings food, music, and all kinds of family fun to downtown Guthrie, and Guthrie Maker Days lets you take different art classes all day long at different shops and galleries. Make an entire day out of it, or even an entire weekend!

The Hit The Bricks crew stopped by Byron Berline's brand new Double Stop Fiddle Shop and Music Hall to talk about the new place, the old place, and all kinds of great stories.

Lisa Sorrell makes some of the most amazing custom cowboy boots on the planet right here in Guthrie, Oklahoma. In this episode she talks about the amazing detail that goes into every pair, and how her business has expanded into selling supplies to custom boot and shoe makers all over the world. 

Stacey Frazier with Guthrie Ghost Walks never disappoints. Great story teller. Hear all about her mysterious tours of Guthrie, and have a good chuckle while you're at it.

Chris and Justin had a delightful afternoon talking with Stacy Smith of Stacy's Place restaurant. Stacy talked about her experience in the restaurant industry, the 4 years of owning and operating Stacy's Place in Guthrie, and her plans for the future. 

The HTB crew hung out at Rick's Fine Chocolates & Coffees in downtown Guthrie. There are definitely worse ways to spend the afternoon than talking to a chocolate shop owner about her 150+ different handmade chocolates and candies. Stacy has an amazing business that's been a staple downtown for more than 12 years now, with visitors from all over the world, plus a huge following of dedicated locals.

Chris and Justin take a deep dive into the world of distilleries with Drew Tekell from Guthrie's Prairie Wolf Spirits. You can hear all about PW's plans for the future, what they offer right now, and how they came to call Guthrie home.

Country & Western musician Jim Garling stopped by for a good conversation and a song. Chris and Justin talked with him about the history of movies shot in Guthrie, and how new legislation at the state level will bring more film projects to Guthrie and Oklahoma.

Ry Dalee & Evangeline stopped by to play some great music, and we caught up with Matthew Sipress-Banks who is directing Disaster! at the Pollard Theatre. Plus Red Brick Nights, Guthrie Maker Days, and the Guthrie Garden Tour.

Chris and Justin break down the current historic flooding in Guthrie, plus some odd tales of floods from 100 years ago. They also chat with Van & Cheri French who own Oklahoma Mini Mill, a magical place where folks from all over the country bring their animal fleece to be processed for making cool stuff like sweaters and stuff. And there's a rabbit in this episode. A big one.

Nathan from the Territorial Museum stopped by Hit  The Bricks World Headquarters to chat about Guthrie's role in the Oklahoma "Land Run," early statehood, indigenous tribes, & Sam Anderson's book Boomtown. Tanner Fields was kind enough to play his song On The Line for us before his recent performance at the May 4 Red Brick Nights in Guthrie. 

Chris and Justin stopped by G Gallery & Glass Studio this week to chat with Glenda Radigonda about her shop and the glass blowing classes she offers. They also recap the incredible concert at the Masonic Temple that featured Vince Gill, Turnpike Troubadours, Larry Gatlin, and the Byron Berline Band. Megan stopped by to talk with Chris and Heady about the 1,000s of Jeep enthusiasts who'll be in Guthrie this weekend, and Clark let us know about how the Guthrie Police Department will be at world famous Missy's Bakery this Saturday morning raising $ for Special Olympics.
