Starting July 23rdthrough August 8th the world’s greatest athletes will compete for the ultimate glory…to be recognized as the best at their sport and represent their country while doing so. This Olympics will introduce a few new sports to their games and one of these sports is Skateboarding. Once upon a time, this sport in the ’50s was referred to as “Asphalt Surfers” and then in 1978, Alan Gelfand invented a maneuver that gave skateboarding another revolutionary jump: the “Ollie”, which counts as the greatest trick ever invented and completely revolutionized skateboarding. That was the birth of street skateboarding. Ever since then the sport grew immensely.
