We are currently in week two of the EM Student summer break, so we are revisiting a great episode called See Change Clearly: Leveraging Adversity to Sharpen Your Vision and Build Resilient Teams. In this episode, a former host of EM Student, Irene Conforti, interviews Jacob Green about his experience in the Emergency Management field and about his book, the title of which is where we got the name for this episode. As we have talked about many times on the show, people’s paths to the EM field are quite diverse, and Jacob’s path started early. He began by taking part in his local police explorer program as a teenager, volunteering with the Red Cross, and then in college working as a police dispatcher, all of which helped develop his interest in public safety. Once in college, Jacob conducted research on the effects of disasters on vulnerable populations and made his choice to pursue Emergency Management as a career.
