The Dudes enter a Great Depression dance marathon in 1969's They Shoot Horses, Don't They? Desperate people will do desperate things, just for a little food and shelter, and a shot at the American dream. Unfortunately, there are always people who take advantage of this. This film was nominated for 9 Oscars, but not Best Picture. So somebody was smoking crack. It's a great film, utterly bleak, and surprisingly relevant.
