We had the pleasure of sitting down with the president of the Great Divide Trail Association and talked about the mechanics of ultralight backpacking.  Dave Hockey has several years experience on some of the most popular through hike routes in North America, including the trail he currently heads up, the GDT. We also talked about the Great Divide Trail and the sometimes complicated process that's involved when building a 1,100 km continuous trail that crosses through several land use areas in Alberta and British Columbia. From public land, provincial parks, and National Parks, GDT passes through them all to make a continuous route that is increasingly used by international visitors and locals.  Dave explains how truly wild the country is and encourages our listeners to get out and explore it!
