The Soil is anyone who hears the message of the Gospel. The Seeds along the path are those who hear but don't understand. The Seeds on rocky ground are those who hear and receive it, but don't last. The Seeds among the thorns are those who hear but the worries of the world make it unfruitful. The seeds on good soil are those who hear, understand and bear fruit.
