    02/11/2021 Duración: 24min

#146 - This week is an update to my pre surgery update. I go over what happened right before I checked into the hospital, as well as what happened during my lovely stay there and how I'm progressing. The CPMC hospital I was at is top notch and did an incredible job! Don't miss Tales of the Trail, where I give the results for the Quicksilver 100k, as well as some other news in the world of running this week. For all information discussed on the show, please visit the website: www.martharunstheworld.com if you have a race report you'd love to send to me, please email me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • Haunted Running Trails - Yosemite!

    26/10/2021 Duración: 33min

#145 - In this year's Haunted Running Trails Halloween episode, I focus specifically on Yosemite. There's plenty of haunted tales and legends to fill up an entire show! Yosemite is an incredible place to visit. It's the perfect place to get away from the city, to camp, to hike, trail run and just to explore the majesty of nature. But there is lots of history there as well. The Miwok Native Americans have tales I share, as well as other stories that have been passed along through the ages. All the links for for the show are on the website: www.martharunstheworld.com if you have any questions or want to send me a race report, please do! Tales on the Trail will return next week! Send your stories to: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • My Surgery...

    19/10/2021 Duración: 09min

#144 - This week, the episode is a bit shorter as I'm giving you a brief update of what's going on right now. I'm in the hospital with my hip replacement surgery! I'll be out soon and shortly I'll be back out on the road, pain free! It's been a long time coming and I am so happy! Stay tune for so much to be happening on the website: www.martharunstheworld.com and throughout all of social media! Please email with well wishes or comments or your own race updates for Tales on the Trail to: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • What's A DFL?

    12/10/2021 Duración: 29min

#143 - Sooner or later, most of us will be DFL in a race. So, what is DFL? In running, the term means Dead F**king Last. It used to be the worst thing in the world to be last, but connotations have changed over the years and it's not so bad anymore. In fact, with the rise of Backyard races, it's the best thing! This week, I talk about DFLs and why the Back of the Pack has the most fun and why you shouldn't stress so much over being slower than the elites. I also talk about the seemingly endless problems with this year's Marine Corp Marathon in Tales of the Trail and I go over what the show will be with my upcoming surgery. The future is bright! For all links and info, please go to the show website at: www.martharunstheworld.com to send your race reports, comments and well wishes, please email me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • Jeff Pelletier Runs and Films Big Time Vert!

    05/10/2021 Duración: 43min

#142 - One of my favorite past times is watching trail running YouTube videos. I found Jeff Pelletier while looking for decent trail running videos. Jeff not only makes great videos but he runs them while filming, and he runs pretty fast. This is not the easiest thing to do, but somehow, he makes it look easy. He lives in Vancouver and he has a rich variety of trails to choose from for his daily trail runs. He talks to us about his films, his races, including the Tour de Geants and what lies ahead. And you will want to watch his adventures after this episode! In Tales of the Trail, I go over the finals in four past races and that includes past guests on the show! I'm so happy for them! All links for Jeff and the races mentioned in Tales are on the website: www.martharunstheworld.com to send me your race report or for comments or questions, please email me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • Gerald Tabios Talks Badwater 135 and Running for Freedom!

    07/09/2021 Duración: 52min

#138 - Gerald Tabios is drawn to Death Valley and he's not even sure why. But this is his favorite race. Badwater 135 brings shudders to most runners, but for him, it is like a frienamy; he loves and dislikes this race. It's forever challenging, even though he's finished it numerous times. In this weeks episode, he talks about his adventures in the hottest place on Earth, as well as his other races and plans for the future. We also talk about the documentary made about his 2018 Badwater race: Running For Freedom. • Alyson Kirk Talks About Ultrarunning, Climbing and Survival!

    31/08/2021 Duración: 40min

#137 - "I probably shouldn't be alive" Alyson told me. She's made peace with her turbulent and near deadly past, but it took a lot of time, self reflection and honesty to get there. She talks about her love of 100 mile ultra races, peaking the tall mountains, her book On My Way Up and so much more! I very much enjoyed hearing her story and her long road of self discovery. All information, including information about UTMB from Tales of the Trail, can be found on my website: www.martharunstheworld@gmail.com if you want to contact me, please email me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • Let's Volunteer!

    17/08/2021 Duración: 27min

#135 - There would be no running races without volunteers. And now that races are coming back, it's time for us to switch into high gear and help out. Small racing companies were some of the hardest hit in 2020 and giving a helping hand is one of the best ways to help keep them around. In this week's episode I give lots of suggestions of ways we all can volunteer. And of "all", I mean from elites to those of at the back of the pack. Every one of us should give our time to keep our wonderful races around! Also don't miss Tales of the Trail, where I talk about the world's richest races! And towards one of them, I ask: Why???? For all information on the podcast and anything related to the show, please go to: www.martharunstheworld.com for comments, questions and any suggestions for future show ideas, please email me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

    10/08/2021 Duración: 41min

Being an educator, he went back to the basics and figured out what he was doing wrong. Once he did that, he now shares what he knows with others and with us this week. I love his common sense and positive approach to running! Also, this week's Tales of the Trail is something you don't want to miss. MRTW lost one of our own and we mourn his loss this week, as well as share a FKT on the Colorado Trail! All links and information talked about this week can be found on the website: www.martharunstheworld.com comments, questions and suggestions for future show ideas can be emailed to: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • Jonathan Beverly Editor in Chief of Podium Runner Talks Boston, Fast Running and More!

    13/07/2021 Duración: 37min

#130 - The website Podium Runner is a great running website. I consider it one of a runner's best resources. This is in part due to Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Beverly's hard work and diligence. He and his staff continue to release great articles and opinion pieces of interest to runners of all abilities. One opinion piece in particular had me emailing him to get him on my show. His: Why Boston's Qualifying System Fails Runners is something that needs to be discussed in more running circles and I hope we added to the conservation. Jonathan and I also talk about the current trends towards fast running addiction and Jonathan's own running history. Also, don't miss this week's Tales of the Trail that includes Olympic Coverage and next week's Badwater 135 2021 race. All links will be on the website at: www.martharunstheworld.com You can contact me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

    06/07/2021 Duración: 42min

#129 - Training coach and author Matt Schifferle has spent a lot of time creating efficient and effective workout routines. He doesn't believe in wasting time on exercises that don't matter and neither do I. That's why it was so educating and refreshing to have him on my show. None of us have an infinite amount of time in our days to add long strengthening routines. We already have miles to run, as well as everything else. Let's save some time and have some fun! In this week's Tales of the Trail, I talk about Cory Reese's latest book Stronger Than the Dark. For all links related to this episode, please visit the website at: www.martharunstheworld.com to send comments, questions or ideas for future show topics, please email me at: martharunstheworld@gmail.com

  • Ultrarunner Miriam Gilbert: Overcoming Adversities Including B12 Deficiency

    22/06/2021 Duración: 44min

#127 - We all have hurdles in our lives. Sometimes those hurdles seem overwhelming. Writer and ultrarunner Miriam Gilbert has plenty of her own, but clears them like an Olympian, never looking back. She tells us her philosophy, which includes faith, a big part of her life and running, always a constant friend. Don't miss Tales of the Trail, where I talk about the first real trail race for Coastal Trail Runs.
