105. Habitual Patterns: Give your mind a Break.
19/12/2022 Duración: 06minInside a new Walk the Talk Show conversation this week with Waylon Lewis: he speaks about why the choices we make around our habitual patterns and what we do with them matter. We wake up and get on our phones. When the day is done, the TV’s on. “Thank you so much. Hope you’re all very well. Try to inject a little more mindfulness into your day…and that’ll help your brain deal with stress, deal with drama, deal with burnout, deal with depression. A lot of times people say you can’t help depression with these things—there’s literally a study that came out recently about how depression is seriously alleviated and sometimes even prevented by going for a walk in nature. So, yes: what we do with our habitual patterns matters.” ~ Waylon Lewis

I post this thing about being ready to date and honestly, I thought it might be kind of exciting and fun and maybe it would have 20 comments and it turned out to be hundreds of comments. And you know, the best comments were people saying, 'you know what, this inspires me to reach out on to my community and be open. This is maybe an effective way to connect with my people and there’s nothing shameful about it.' I love that.” ~ Waylon Lewis

101. My name isn’t Waylon “Lewis”—on anti-Semitism.
05/12/2022 Duración: 04minPrejudice is complicated: anti-Semitism is real and yet there are different layers of privilege and racism and sexism and homophobia and many more virulent forms of “othering”—you know, ignorant hate. Prejudice is simple: we dissolve it when we open our minds and hearts. That’s how we know it isn’t true, it can only survive in the clouds of that ignorance and hate. I’m half-Jewish. Whenever I post about anti-Semitism on Facebook, over the past years, my own friends and community have dismissed my personal concerns. Whatever, you’re white, they say. Read my response on Elephant Journal: My name isn’t “Waylon Lewis.” ~ Waylon Lewis
