Birdie was the neighborhood legend from my childhood who had a vibrant spirit, and always celebrated the joy of life. She was an older lady around my grandma's age at the time, and she was from the islands, and was an absolute delight.  Everybody knew and loved Birdie. Her standard attire was the brightly colored floral Mumu with matching turban, with multiple sparkly necklaces and dangle earrings to complete the look.  #Fashionista There was absolutely no mistaking Birdie for anyone else, and once Birdie considered you a friend, in order for you to continue a conversation with her, you had to dance the A Bumm-A-Chikka.
