  • The Great Physican - Audio

    03/04/2022 Duración: 28min

If we are honest about it, none of us are perfect. Matter of fact, we're all broken in some way. Because of that God sent his son Jesus to be our doctor, to mend us back to wholeness. But how we want to be healed may not line up with God's plan causing us to be disappointed or even give up on God. For that reason it helps to understand: 1. Jesus is always compassionate in our suffering.(Matthew 9:35-36) 2. Jesus is purposeful in his healing. (Luke 4:14-30) 3. Where we are short-sighted, Jesus has the endgame in mind. (Luke 17:11-19) "Jesus the Healer is the key that opens the gates of Heaven."

  • The Good Shepherd- 03/06/2022 - Audio

    06/03/2022 Duración: 21min

How we perceive someone often determines our attitude and treatment towards that person. Many of us see Jesus as God, but is he more than just someone we ask stuff from, give thanks to before we eat, or celebrate only when Christmas comes around? Jesus is not one dimensional. Not just print on a Bible page, but much more. John 10:11 Jesus declared, "I am the good shepherd." Does this mean anything to you? Applying CLC's mission statement to Psalm 23 , using the characteristics of a good shepherd: 1. Loving God is a daily, everyday relationship (v.1-4) 2. Loving People includes necessary hospitality (v.5) 3. Serving the World must lead to inviting others to come live in the Lord's house forever (v.6). Jesus cannot be an afterthought, but a vital part of our lives. Jesus the Good Shepherd is a daily, necessary, "cleanser".

    27/02/2022 Duración: 42min

"A crust eaten in peace is better than a banquet partaken in anxiety" Aesop...Nevertheless, we worry and fret and agonize. In fact, human beings are the only one of God's creation that are anxious and become overly concerned. As we conclude in our sermon series, "Upside Down" living. .Jesus illustrates why worrying is Unreasonable, Unnatural, Unhealthy, and Unnecessary. And teaches us to, 'Never worry about anything by seeking the Kingdom of God" One way to conquer a passion is by focusing on a greater passion. Focusing on earthly matters like riches and basic needs will always breed worry and anxiety but focusing on eternal matters delivers us from those worries and bring God's peace. So, would you join me this morning as Jesus command us, "Do not worry about anything!"

  • Doing the Unthinkable - Audio

    06/02/2022 Duración: 28min

A harsh perspective about life goes like this: "Life is hard, then you die." In our lifetime there's enough ordinary challenges that keep us struggling. You would think not doing unusual and extraordinary things would be justified and okay. But in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells us exactly that, to go beyond the norm. In Matthew 5:38-48 Jesus gives us 3 unthinkables: 1. Service, not vengeance (v.39-42) 2. Love your enemy as your neighbor (v.44-47) 3. Be perfect in love (v.48) Challenge: In love Jesus did the unthinkable for us, so can we do unthinkables for him?

Community Life - Denny Lai #weareclc - Gordon Wang Speaker - Pastor Calvin Yim "Thunk It, Done It!" Don't Murder! Realistically not many of us will ever disobey this command, but Jesus takes this to another level, telling us to be mindful of the spirit of the law and not the letter of the law. To be self-aware of how we handle our anger specifically. That to think evil thoughts about someone, we have in some degree committed a crime against the other person. Instead Jesus calls us to be peacemakers in our relationships, be a uniter and not a divider. From our passage Jesus tells us: 1. Anger is the same as murder, and subject to judgment. 2. Have self-awareness in our relationships. Do we unite or do we divide? 3. Pursue Shalom (peace) in our community and world by serving others. Challenge: Being a peacemaker will be distinctive for the world to see, and for you to experience a more full and joyful well-being.
