  • #44 - Who Am I?

    28/05/2019 Duración: 45min

Are we Asian? Are we American? Growing up, we are taught many things about ourselves that start to create the foundation of who we become. Add cultural differences and some underrepresentation, and you have some pretty confused Asian American kids with no reference of how to manage the colliding cultures. We want to make our Asian parents proud, but when their lessons and traits start to conflict with what we are being taught in real life, it creates a whole new level of identity crisis that we have no reference of combating. This week, we discuss what it feels like for us to be Asian American women trying to find and become who we truly are. Being taught to conform to what we can and can’t be as young girls and then being modern minority women who have the world regulating what we can and can’t do, is exhausting! We share how we’ve learned to break barriers and stereotypes as we truly embrace the power of our story. Follow us on social! Christine - Instagram: @xoxochristinechen; Twitter: @christinechen4 Regi

    16/11/2017 Duración: 59min

We’re too often told to stay positive! Think happy thoughts! Don’t dwell in the negative! And while this can be great advice to help deal with life's woes, how do we approach it authentically so that resentment and anger don't take over? In many aspects of our lives, we suppress a lot of feelings and emotions in order to move on and "be positive". Sometimes it’s for survival, other times it becomes a way of life. But it doesn't mean those "bad" emotions are really gone! This week, our fairy soul sister Mimi Chao joins us as we explore the many ways we have dealt with the suppression of negatives memories from past experiences and how the consequences have affected our lives. We also dive into how we are currently processing all the horrific news happening daily in today's political climate from Harvey Weinstein, Trump, to the devastating Sutherland Springs shooting. How do we find happiness when there is negativity everywhere?! "Life is a creation of the mind." - Buddha A New Ear
