The Philistines captured the Ark, and because they had taken the ark of the covenant, God had punished them with disease and affliction, each of the 5 cities that had the Ark.  They return the ark to Israel out of fear of further consequences because of their sin. An exposition of 1 Samuel 6:1-14.

The text shows the consequences of the Philistines capture of the Ark of the Covenant. and the destroying of their Idol. They were all stuck with tumors and they decided to move the Ark from Ashdod to Gath.

The text contains the vile sins of Hophni and Phinehas and the judgment of the sons of Eli. God sends a prophet to Eli to pronounce His judgment against his son's for the great wickedness that they had committed against God and His Tabernacle, as well as God's people Israel.
