  • Boo Mitchell - Memphis Serendipity, Uptown Funk and Royal Studios

    30/05/2017 Duración: 23min

Last week I spent about a week in Memphis, Tennessee capturing Sun Studios, Graceland, Stax and of course the legendary Beale Street. On the last day of the assignment, we wrapped shooting at around 1am and I had the opportunity kick with it Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell in a parking outside of a spot called Beauty Shop. It’s crazy because about an hour before meeting Boo, I was talking to my friend Jay about the podcast and he immediately started talking about how I should get Boo on show. He said he’d set it up and in my mind, I thought this would take month to make happen. Meaning I’d catch Boo when I was back in the city because I had to fly out in on the morning. Shortly after that conversation, guess who walks through the door? Yup you guessed it, Boo. I told the story to Boo and he said, “We call that Memphis serendipity”. In this episode we talk about the early days of Royal Studios, wearing the hat of a producer, the false feel, putting love in the cooking, Uptown Funk, and much more. I’m outta here, enjoy

  • Alexander Sumner - The Difference between Style and Fashion, The Grateful Dead, Vintage Shops as well as the Four Components of a Well Made Suit

    02/05/2017 Duración: 01h15min

Quick Summary: Today we talk with Alexander Sumner about the Difference between Style and Fashion, The Grateful Dead, Vintage Shops as well as the Four Components of a Well Made Suit. -- If you know me, you know I’m not the most stylish person in the world. I mean that in the sense of being suited up to the nines. I think my style is more sporty or efficient… if you will. Or better yet, ninja like or unassuming. When I’m out capturing the places I visit, I don’t really want to be seen. I don’t want any kind of attention from anyone, I just want to get my shots and get the hell out of there… A lot of what you’ll see me in is dark muted shirts, dark jeans, some Air Max 1s or some all black chucks. That being said, if there ever comes a time that its necessary for me to get dressed up, its not a foreign concept because of today’s guest, Alexander Sumner. I met Alex a few years ago when this little voice in my head was going on and on about getting a real suit. So I started cruising the net and social media for m

  • TAKI 183 - The History of Graffiti Culture, Classic Cars and the Future of Street Art

    04/04/2017 Duración: 01h10min

This episode is very special to me. It’s not often I get to converse with a innovator, a pioneer or a living legend in anything let alone graffiti culture. Today’s guest on the show is TAKI 183. Before recording a single episode of this podcast I made list of people I would love to have on the show. I threw Taki’s name on there under the dream big column. I wrote it not ever thinking it was a real possibility but here we are lol. That write it down and manifest it stuff I’ve always heard about does have a lot of merit to it, so I’m learning. TAKI 183 was gracious enough to give me a few hours of his time to talk in-depth about his creative journey at the Auto Body Shop he owns out Yonkers. That being said, it was toward the end of the work day so we had to stop and start depending on if someone in the garage or a client needed to pull him away for a second. I put a sound effect in between clips to give you an idea of when I had to stop the tape. This episode was recorded in the waiting area of the garage… So

    15/03/2017 Duración: 01h32min

Today’s guest on the show is DJ Neil Armstrong. In this episode we have a super in-depth conversation about paying dues, how to sustain longevity in the entertainment business, his dog Poh, universal languages, his various experiences as a tour DJ for Jay Z, Neil’s Dinner & A Mixtape series plus much much more. Just a heads up, we recorded this in a pretty quiet room. And a bunch of little kids showed up with their moms and all of a sudden it got live. It got loud, but Neil and I never stopped. We were knee deep into the conversation and at that point it didn’t make sense to move. You can still hear us really clearly but the party in the background does get a bit distracting at times, I apologize in advance. With that said, please enjoy.

  • Marvin Parks - Talks about being an American Jazz Singer in Paris

    07/02/2017 Duración: 24min

Last week I found myself exploring several districts in Paris looking for street art and good eats. As I challenge to get a different flavor of the city I decided to skip the cabs and walk or take the metro to everywhere I wanted to go. In doing that I covered a lot of ground fairly quick. One day as I was transferring from train to train and I walked by Marvin Parks in one of the tunnels. He was holding what looked like a record cover of himself and I just walked over to ask if he was a singer and he said  yes. I asked if he’d be down to share his story for podcast and he said yes. So that being said, Marvin and I are standing in the middle of a busy passageway in the metro or the subway during rush hour. It’s pretty noisy down there but we got it done. In this episode we talk about why Marvin moved to Paris, the key to surviving in the city, busking in the metro, Natalie Cole, reaching people with what you have and much much more. Please enjoy. -- More Information about Marvin Parks Soundcloud - https://sou
