  • A Quiet Mind - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 4-17-26 #1852

    17/04/2026 Duración: 09min

“Send Coach John a message”I found a post that got me thinking about how much I need to find this. I’m talking about finding a “quiet mind.” It comes from Curious Minds (@CuriousMindsHub) where this post was shared:  “A quiet mind … A quiet mind learns better.  A quiet mind observes better.  A quiet mind acts better.”  Yep… I need a quiet mind more often.  I need MY mind to be quiet more often. I think back to my past, when I was a little kid at times. I knew my mind was quieter at that time because of the things going around me that my mind was trying to deal with and think about. Today - I feel that it’s multiplied many times more than that. It gets me thinking (and planning) about finding ways to slow my mind down - especially at night while I’m trying to sleep. I want to keep looking for ways to simplify my life and mind for that matter. Be more in the moment when I can remember to do that. I want to make my habits and choices fit into this a bit more. How about you?  Thanks for listening.  Please take a

  • What We Choose To Become - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thurs. 4-16-26 #1851

    16/04/2026 Duración: 10min

“Send Coach John a message”Looking at a few things this morning and this one got my attention. The reason of course, is that I needed to be reminded of it. It’s from Words of Wise | Mindset Coach (@Wordofwise_) and it’s a quote from Carl Jung who said “I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” It reminds me to not focus on the challenging things that I have gone through or currently am going through. Instead, I need to focus on the things that I’ve been able to do that are good and helpful to others; along with to keep on doing to keep serving and making a difference for others. It’s challenging to remember this when tough times are all around us, but there are plenty of examples of others going through it too. We must keep learning lessons every day, along with taking a few moments here and there to have the perspective in our lives to keep getting better. I want to be in the moment, right now to do something I know is good for me to do. Choices that help me to become who I choose to be an

  • Show Me Anybody - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 4-15-26 #1850

    15/04/2026 Duración: 10min

“Send Coach John a message”I came across a post the other day that stuck with me. This came from MLFootball (@MLFootball) and it was a thought that came from Los Angeles Rams head football coach Sean McVay.  He said in order to grow as a person you need to struggle in life. “Show me anybody that's great in anything they do, I'll show you somebody that's persevered, demonstrated that mental toughness to overcome some obstacles and adversity”  It’s something to just sit back and take to heart. Nobody that has done anything worthwhile - big or small, has been without troubles, setbacks, doubts, obstacles, and of course failures. This got me thinking that I simply need to keep trying, every single day.  There are billions of examples of this throughout history. Now of course I don’t know about all of them. I do know about a few and that also tells me that those that I don’t know about, aren’t any less valuable.  They did happen for sure. The things I’m going through, I can get through if I “simply”

  • Start Your Day With One Question - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tues. 4-14-26 #1849

    14/04/2026 Duración: 12min

“Send Coach John a message”I started my day like I always do, looking for inspiration and lessons to learn from. I found this one from Damon West (@damonwest7), the co-author of the wonderful & powerful book, “The Coffee Bean.” (it’s one you should make sure to check out).  Most people let the day decide how they show up. The difference is choosing it before anything else does. That’s where consistency and real leadership start.”  This was a reminder for me to try and make the right choice, at the start of my day - each and every day! The post shared was this: “Start your day with one question:  how am I going to show up today?  For myself and for others. Because your attitude, your effort, and your presence will shape every room you walk into.”  A question I need to ask myself, and looking back is a bit easier since things have already happened - Is on my “good” days, why were they good?  Also on my “bad” days, why were they bad?  I am betting that the start to each of those days had something to do with

  • Less Distractions Found From Golf - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 4-13-26 #1848

    13/04/2026 Duración: 13min

“Send Coach John a message”Found a great post connected to “The Masters” (@TheMasters) - this post from Brad Stulberg (@BStulberg) where he shares a wonderful picture of golf fans watching “One of the best parts of the Masters golf tournament: the no phone rule. It’s awesome to see so many people locked in and sharing an experience with full presence. As I write in The Way of Excellence: “Excellence requires intimacy—minimizing distractions and getting as close as possible to your pursuit. It is a powerful antidote to modern feelings of disconnection, dissociation, and numbness.” I have no doubt a big part of the aura at the Masters is its intimacy. This would be impossible if everyone had their phones. There’s much to learn from this, and not just for golf.”  I shared two posts about this on my Twitter / X account and I’ll do the same on my Facebook page too - and I’ll try to put them on Instagram too.  The other one was from Matt Van Swol (@mattvanswol) where he shared this thought:  “Say what you want abou

  • Joy Through Everyday Moments - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1847

    13/04/2026 Duración: 12min

“Send Coach John a message”This podcast from John O’Leary (@JOLearyInspires)- (Episode 870) This is an incredible episode that made a big impact on me while I was mowing my front lawn yesterday. John has a conversation with Piera Gelardi and here is a bit from the show notes: “Today, Piera shares how growing up in a small town in Maine shaped her sense of wonder, how building a global brand led to unexpected self-doubt and burnout, and how reclaiming play became her path back to creativity, connection, and joy. She explains practical ways to integrate playfulness into our daily lives and how small moments can shift perspectives, deepen connection, and bring more curiosity, wonder, and joy into everyday life.”  As I was listening to this, there were many thoughts running through my head as to why I needed to connect to this connection of joy, wonder, happiness, authenticity, and to continue trying to be the best version of myself. One of the biggest impacts this made with me was connected to something from my

  • The Magic You're Looking For - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 4-10-26 #1846

    10/04/2026 Duración: 07min

“Send Coach John a message”I found a couple of items this morning that clicked with me, so much so that I didn’t want to wait until I came out of the gym. One was a post from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) where he shared this gem: “The magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding.” - Chris Williamson said this. I have been avoiding things that I know I need to do. Some out of fear, worry, anxiety; but others because I’m wasting my time on other items that distract me. The other item of this podcast came from a former student. Ashley posted a picture of our Principles of Leadership class from 15 years ago!! Those “kids” were such a big part of not only that year for me, but also my entire career. Her post reminded me of the gratitude that I have for the thousands of people that I got a chance to work with while at Lake Shore High School.  It also reminded me of how I’m actually still “teaching” that course! It is the foundation of this podcast and the lessons I’m sharing and still learning are th

  • Choose to Focus - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thurs. 4-9-26 #1845

    09/04/2026 Duración: 06min

“Send Coach John a message”I saw a gem this morning from Dolphins Enlighten (@embracetruejoy) where this was shared:  “Focusing on what is going right, rather than what is wrong, improves your life! If you want to feel better then you need to think better!”  This intro hit me as I know I’ve been on a journey to do this better and the post itself helps me to keep at it even more! Here’s the post:  “When you CHOOSE to FOCUS on what’s going RIGHT instead of what’s going wrong …when you CHOOSE to focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t do … those are the times you will have the biggest breakthroughs in life!”  This is something that I am finding out as I get older, to continue focusing on this, to keep getting better no matter how old I am. This is something for all of us to take to heart. Just keep going!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find

  • Rooting For Others - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 4-8-26 #1844

    08/04/2026 Duración: 06min

“Send Coach John a message”I’ve been around a few different themes lately; of rooting for good people to have good things happen to them, not wasting focus or energy on things that don’t matter and looking to make a difference with others.  Part of it has been from sports - namely basketball and golf. The two winning coaches in the NCAA basketball tournaments - One is Cori Close, Head Coach at UCLA and on the men’s side - Dusty May from the University of Michigan. Both talked about the importance of culture and character.  Gary Woodland, a PGA tour golfer - coming out sharing his struggles from his brain tumor surgery and now dealing with PTSD. He is sharing it because he said he doesn’t want to hide the fear any longer and that he knows that message can help others. He reminds people that it’s important to talk to someone, don’t take the battle on yourself. With what some other players are going through, namely Tiger Woods - it’s good to see many people wanting the human being Tiger to be ok and get better a

  • Utilizing Hardship - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tues. 4-7-26 #1843

    07/04/2026 Duración: 12min

“Send Coach John a message”Listening to John O’Leary’s podcast yesterday (find his website HERE), I was drawn to a piece of it where he was talking about Travis Sanders, an amputee who is a barber and so many other things. The biggest and best thing that he is, is that he is a difference-maker to so many people. I had the fortune to be on an online call yesterday, where Travis was the guest. It was a very uplifting conversation to see live, and hear from him on some of the things he’s been through, his attitude for getting through the tough times and his calling to help others. Listen for yourself for the episode that connected some of this as John O’Leary shares on his Monday Moment segment - Listen HERE.  The little piece that I shared with you reminds all of us that we have incredible opportunities to help others through what we are going through. Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other ser

  • In Love With This Sentence Too - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 3-25-26 #1832

    06/04/2026 Duración: 11min

“Send Coach John a message”I came across a fabulous post from Minions World (@minionswld) which shared this one sentence that hit me hard: “Forgive yourself for not knowing earlier what only time could teach.”  It goes on to say that this is true “because the truth is, we can only understand certain things after we grow, after we go through life and after time quietly teaches us what we once didn’t know.”  This really hit me with how this sentence should also be connected to our relationships with other people - the people that we are really close with. Our pasts do inter-connect with those people that we are close to. Love these deep reflective points, as you can hear in my voice with this episode. Hope it makes an impact with you too!  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter

  • Lessons Taught To Me - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1841

    06/04/2026 Duración: 16min

“Send Coach John a message”I found an awesome post from My Positive Outlooks (@mypositiveoutlooks) and (mypositiveoutlooks.com). The post shared this thought: “Today, I give thanks to everyone who’s been part of my journey. Each person has taught me lessons and added color to my story.  I’m grateful for the love, the laughter, the challenges, and even the struggles - because they’ve guided me as I continue moving through life.” We had a wedding this past weekend. We’ve known both the bride and groom for a long time. The groom since he was born and the bride since she was 5 years old. Their parents obviously for a long time too and so many other people. I was thinking about all of the people that we have known throughout our lives while sitting & listening to the great music that was playing from this amazing band they had. Then, I saw a former student and I went up to him to talk. He was there with his wife and he shared how they are expecting their 2nd child.  I had a wonderful conversation with him and

  • Courage, Commitment and Best Efforts - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 4-3-26 #1840

    03/04/2026 Duración: 13min

“Send Coach John a message”I found an awesome post from the Pat Summitt Foundation and it said this: “Whatever it is that you desire to do in life, have the courage and commitment to do it, and do it at your absolute best.” As I was seeing this, there were a couple of other things that I connected with this morning too, that helped to remind me why I’m trying to do what I do. No matter the setbacks, getting down on myself once in a while, feeling overwhelmed at times - it’s all ok, when I recognize those feelings and then make the choice to not let them define me. I’m a life-long educator and coach who is always looking to encourage, inspire and make a difference for others. I am seeing things each and every day that help to reinforce meaning and passion into my life for doing what I know is helping others. Keep finding those things that inspire, motivate, light that spark inside of you - to keep doing what lights your soul on fire. Today I was connected to Devon Rodriguez - Links found HERE. • Still Way Ahead - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thurs. 4-2-26 #1839

    02/04/2026 Duración: 04min

“Send Coach John a message”Found a much needed reminder from Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) where this quote was shared:  “No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.” - Tony Robbins.  It got me thinking again, about overcoming setbacks and problems. Challenges, both small and not so small, need to be dealt with, instead of ignoring them or not even trying to take them on. I have been that person that doesn’t try at times in my life and I don’t want to be that person too much any more. When I am, I want to recognize it - ask for help if I need it, but to also actually do something to change it around. I’m looking to recognize the moment that I’m in and what’s the right decision for that moment for me to become better, to accomplish something, to follow through on a promise made to myself, etc. Little reminders like this help keep me going and I hope it helps you too.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & sha

  • A Debt To Repay - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 4-1-26 #1838

    01/04/2026 Duración: 15min

“Send Coach John a message”With all the things happening around college basketball, March Madness, the Final 4, etc., I found a great clip from Dawn Staley who is the head coach of South Carolina Women’s basketball team. Check out the clip HERE.  She shares with everyone how she views her life as owing the game of basketball. All of the things that the game has brought to her, she wants to pay it back. I like this. I like the connection to her team, their families, etc., and she's helping to pay off her debt to the game, by helping others gain from it too. Imagine feeling this way about things that have brought you things in your life that you are grateful for. Life-changing things. For me it has to do with tons of people that have made a difference for me along with the field of education and the game of basketball too. This is the first time I’m lumping all three of these things together and it’s putting a big smile on my face. I will spend the rest of my life doing my best to pay all of these “back.”

  • Life Is An Echo - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tues. 3-31-26 #1837

    31/03/2026 Duración: 13min

“Send Coach John a message”I just found a fabulous reminder about life and there are two parts to this episode. First, the post came from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64) and the intro to the post is this:  “Let’s “give goodness”! Wishing you a wonderful day!”  We all need well wishes every day for sure. The picture with this post shared this:  “Life is an echo. What you send out, comes back.  What you sow, you reap.  What you give, you get. What you see in others, exists in  you.  Remember, life is an echo. It always gets back to you. So give goodness.”  What a powerful and true statement and an even more important reminder for all of us. I have always "loosely" connected with this statement and realized there is truth to it. Now with having age on my side a bit more, I know it’s true and I am focused more and more about what I put out to the world. The second part to this episode is an example of this statement. My difference-maker of a friend Denyse from Canada, reached out to me with an encouraging

  • That's Always Enough - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 3-30-26 #1836

    30/03/2026 Duración: 10min

“Send Coach John a message”I came across this post later in the day and I can see how it’s directly connected to how my day started. Once again, Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) comes through with some amazing & thought provoking info. Along with the clip from Brandon Chen, I was really able to see through some challenges today.  Mark shared these thoughts: “You won't always feel your best-and that's okay. Your best will look different every day. Sometimes it's strength, sometimes it's simply showing up. Bring what you have, as you are. That's always enough. You are enough!” I didn’t feel like my best today, but as the day kept going on, and I looked outside of myself to help out with a couple of things, I felt better. Simply showing up and giving my best, in the moment itself, well - that’s a win for sure. Remember these thoughts when you are facing tough moments throughout your days. Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a

  • Wise Words About People - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1835

    30/03/2026 Duración: 10min

“Send Coach John a message”Found this gem from Words of Wise | Mindset Coach (@Wordofwise_) where the picture in the post said this: “Never blame anyone in your life. Good people give you happiness. Bad people give you experience. Worst people give you a lesson. Best people give you memories.” - (@bywisewords)  This got me thinking a lot about this. When I shared the post I included my thoughts here:  “There are a lot of people that called themselves “leaders” that are giving anyone who pays attention, a lot of experience and lessons. Keep learning from them to be the ones that share happiness & memories with others.”  So much out there that is a roadmap, in great detail mind you, as to what NOT TO DO throughout life!! I actually am so fired up about this as I find so much value in having this attitude throughout life! I hope you can take some of this with you too of course. In this episode, I am trying to video record this too. Here is the LINK on my Youtube Channel.   Thanks for listening.  Please take

  • Pain - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 3-27-26 #1834

    27/03/2026 Duración: 17min

“Send Coach John a message”I found an amazingly powerful and emotional post from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) where he shared these thoughts on pain:  “Some pain doesn’t break you — it expands you by widening your perspective. It shifts how you see people, softens your judgments & deepens your understanding in ways comfort never could….”  The post that he shared about this went like this:  “What a strange privilege it is to experience pain.  Not because it feels good.  It doesn’t.  But because it changes the way you see life.  It softens you.  It humbles you.  It makes you notice things you once rushed past.  After pain, you value peace more.  You value ordinary days more.  You value people more.  You don’t take laughter lightly.  You don’t ignore small blessings.  Pain doesn’t destroy you.  Sometimes it deepens you.”  Yep.. There was a reason why this episode was a bit longer than others. I forgot to mention, I shared my thoughts to Mark on this one and its connection to John O’Leary.  This one hit home for m

  • Don't Lose Sight - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thurs. 3-26-26 #1833

    26/03/2026 Duración: 12min

“Send Coach John a message”I found another inspirational post that reminded me about some things that I know I need to put an episode about how important this really is. Greg Berge (@GregBerge) “Don’t lose sight of the people who help you get to where you are.” - Greg McDermott - “No one climbs the mountain alone.” Wow.. I can’t tell you how true this statement is. I have so many people starting with my parents, family, friends, students, coworkers, players, coaches, neighbors, etc. I’m trying to go a bit more out of my way to tell people how grateful I am that they are in my life. When you stop and think about it, nobody gets through life alone. We all have people that have helped us along the way. It’s also true that you have done the same for others too! Always good to keep this fact close to your heart.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on
