  • Riff Talk #33 - "Wavelength"

    16/07/2018 Duración: 03min

This is a fuzzy, warm, hypnotic riff that could work as some sort of soundtrack to something. I can mayyybe hear some vocals over this - curious for someone to try it out! Listen to that bass, it's a peculiar line. You know what I mean by hypnotic? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #32 - "Levitate"

    14/07/2018 Duración: 04min

Well this one was a friggin' blast! Lotta potential here, it's a bit drone-y but I think that's why I love it. I mean I GUESS I can add a section with more chords. The lyrics were written on a whim, so lot of room for messing around with that. The solo was fun as hell to record with all that feedback. I'm hearing another solo with some cool instrument. Who's got a dulcimer or something? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #31 - "Decorum"

    12/07/2018 Duración: 04min

Seeking a vocalist for this one! Or any kind of lead instrument that would blend in well with this one. This one's got some potential - I like the 2 different sections, and the subtle additions when Section A comes around again. Decorum is a fairly recent one, only about 2 months old. I'll start digging up some really old ones! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #30 - "I, The Lurker"

    09/07/2018 Duración: 04min

This riff is in a CAVE I tell you. I hear a lot of potential with this one - perhaps as a film score piece or an instrumental. I'm not hearing vocals with this one for some reason but please surprise me if you do! I also think this title really fits the music. Just picture a strange lurking creature twitching around inside a cave looking for other forms of life. Yea. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #29 - "Verdure"

    06/07/2018 Duración: 05min

This next riff was written early last year in 2017. I think the name fits the music well, it's got a sort of "nature" sound to it - well to me, anyway. Clearly 2 distinct sections here. The switch when the drums come in is cool but I'm not entirely sure where to go from there. I'm thinking maybe it'll stay in that rhythm for a bit and perhaps somehow end up at Section A. Thoughts? Suggestions? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #28 - "Down"

    02/07/2018 Duración: 05min

I really enjoyed making this next riff - I think it's one of those ideas that can just keep going forever. The improv soloing over was really fun to do, probably because the progression is emotional and serious. Fits the name "Down", I think. I could hear some vocals on this too, no? Who wants to solo over this? I think it'd be a blast to trade off improvising! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #27 - "Villager"

    27/06/2018 Duración: 05min

This one is also fairly recent (March 2018). It's got a nice open, sort of mountainous sound to it. I'm using this killer program called EZ Drummer - check it out! It's really changing my game because I can add drums to my riffs and really show you the kind of vibe I'm going for. What do you think of the improv over it? The whammy bar is still so fresh and new to me, I love it! Someone add some vox over this! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #26 - "Hive"

    25/06/2018 Duración: 04min

This next original riff is about a month old. The name is super fitting I'd say! I think this piece would work well in a spooky kooky film. Maybe an eerie silent film - not sure what would be happening in this particular scene though. What instrumentation should be added on to this? Bongos and congas? Cigar and a waffle? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #25 - "Nexus Things"

    21/06/2018 Duración: 04min

This next original idea is a song intro paying homage to legends like Ravi Shankar, Paco De Lucia, B.B. King, and Ben E. King. I'm thinking it should lead into some kind of tabla/sitar breakdown with some nylon guitar dancing around! Simple chords in E, a bit drone-y. How about some Tambura? Mmmm! Anybody got one? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #24 - "Desperate Is The Rainfall"

    18/06/2018 Duración: 05min

This particular riff is more of a song idea. The lyrics aren't really official, this was made over 6 years ago! Are there any other instruments you're hearing here? Where else could this song go, or does it stand alone as it is? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff #23 - "Candelabro"

    13/06/2018 Duración: 03min

This next original riff was written in 2011. I think it could work as a piece of film music. I'm hearing slight percussion, maybe some djembe and shakers. What could you do with this idea? Let me know your thoughts/suggestions! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #22 - "I Come A Knocking"

    11/06/2018 Duración: 04min

The title of this next original guitar riff is inspired by Breaking Bad, my favorite show EVER. This riff is begging for drums, and I'm also hearing some horns too. What do you think of the 2nd section? It's kinda goofy. Goofy? Goofy. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #21 - "Gemini"

    08/06/2018 Duración: 04min

This next original riff is suuuuper old, from 2008. I remember writing it in my college dorm room late at night freshman year. I've always liked the Dorian touch - makes the riff look blue. What do you think about this idea? Not set on the lyrics at all - those were written on the spot, but I do like the general vibe of having these big voices come in. I like the bass riff too! Thoughts? Who wants to collab with me on "Gemini"? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #20 - "Nox"

    07/06/2018 Duración: 04min

This riff is called "Nox", meaning "night" in Latin. I'm picturing a forest here - with haunting feedback sounds in the background. Definitely needs some acoustic guitar and bass/drums. What do you think of the verse melody? I'm stuck on where it should go. Add something to it! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • "Blowin In The Wind" - Bob Dylan (Guitar Rendition)

    07/06/2018 Duración: 01min

  • Riff Talk #19 - "Mood"

    04/06/2018 Duración: 04min

This is the first riff featuring my new guitar! I'm so pumped about this Fender guys, it sounds and feels incredible. About the riff - it's got some potential. I think some singing would work really well over this, and some soft percussion. Let's collab! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • "Grace" - Jeff Buckley (Epic scream transcribed to Guitar)

    04/06/2018 Duración: 01min

I wanted to pay tribute to Jeff Buckley with a guitar rendition of his epic scream at the end of "Grace", transcribed to electric guitar. I can't get enough of the insanely intense vibrato he produces at the end of this song. What an ANGEL. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #18 - "Acoustic Man"

    02/06/2018 Duración: 03min

For now, I just have this original acoustic riff repeating itself. It needs some sort of B section to compliment it. I also think some groovy drums will really bring it to life. Maybe some electric guitar soloing over it would be badass, too. What do you wanna do to it??? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • 51 Years of Sgt. Pepper's - "Fixing A Hole" Guitar Rendition

    02/06/2018 Duración: 01min

Ok so this is tied at #1 for me for favorite albums, and this song is a big reason why. It's just a snippet of the song but damn I lovvvvveeeee Paul in this tune. I'm taking my time for a number of things That weren't important yesterday And I still go... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support

  • Riff Talk #17 - "Incan Run"

    31/05/2018 Duración: 04min

This next original riff, played on a Spanish nylon guitar, was created about 3 years ago (2015). I like the ascending part of it and how it crashes down. It has a sense of urgency, but I feel it gets sort of lost in the loop and needs to spin out in a new direction. What would you add or change to it? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/danbarracuda/support
