The Word – Jesus vs. 14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-3 Is telling us the ultimate things about Jesus that he can. John means for us to read every word of this Gospel with the clear, solid, amazed knowledge that Jesus Christ was with God and was God and that the one who laid down his life for us created the universe. Why Word? What God had to say to us was not only or mainly what Jesus said, but who Jesus was and what He did. Abide in my word, abide in me. Jesus: God’s Decisive, Final Message In Revelation 19:13 (by the same author as the Gospel), he describes Jesus’ glorious return: “He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.” Jesus is called The Word of God, as he returns to earth. Two verses later John says, “From his mouth comes a sharp sword” (Revelation 19:15). In other words, Jesus strikes the nations in the power of the word

    03/02/2010

Relationships By Design - Brian Pickerel What does Biblical dating look like? Why date? Why do people date? If I am too young for marriage am I too young for dating? Why is the world’s way of dating wrong? 1.It is tempting. 1 Cor. 6:18 Flee sexual immorality don’t fight it. A.It presupposes that a certain amount of kissing & touching are acceptable outside of marriage as long as you don’t go too far. 1 Cor. 7:1-3 “You will never find David dancing after his wife Bathseba. Not he; there was not a dance in him after that! He limped to the day of his death.” – C.H. Spurgeon 2.It confuses lust & strong emotions with Biblical love. 1 Cor. 13:4-6 3.It trains young people to take male-female relationships lightly. Eph. 5:24-25 What am I supposed to do? 1.Protect your heart. Proverbs 4:22-27 2.Pursue Christ 1 Peter 1:13-16
