George Kozmetsky (October 5, 1917 April 30, 2003) was a technology innovator, businessman, educator, author, and philanthropist. Kozmetsky was the co-founder of Teledyne, and he was the dean of The University of Texas Graduate School of Business for 16 years, where he revolutionized the curriculum by incorporating computers and technology in the classroom. He graduated from the University of Washington and earned his MBA from Harvard in 1947. A former professor of technology and business at Harvard and Carnegie-Mellon Universities, Kozmetsky joined Hughes Aircraft and then Litton Laboratories in 1954. He teamed with fellow Litton researcher Henry Singleton to launch the multi-billion-dollar Teledyne Corporation in 1960. George Kozmetsky was heralded as a "Renaissance man for modern times." In 1977, he founded the IC2 Institute, a think tank charged with researching the intersection of business, government, and education. Kozmetsky was the mentor of Michael Dell who created Dell Computer Corporation. In 1993, Kozmetsky received the National Medal of Technology from President Bill Clinton. Dr. George Kozmetsky addressed the student delegates at the 1985 Achievement Summit in Denver, Colorado.
