This is NOT "The Emperor's New Clothes". This is all about the new clothes of the righteousness of Jesus Christ that enfold the person of faith. And it is love that is the perfect accessory to the wardrobe. Once dressed up in these new clothes, the Christian GETS TO demonstrate thankfulness for all that God has already done.

In order to be able to reach to others with God's goodness and grace, we must first be impacted and changed by this same love of God. When one comes to faith in Christ, a process begins - a journey is started - that must continue to grow deeper in order for it to reach out to others further. Being rooted in Christ means that one is actively killing the sins of the flesh and the sins of the heart. New life comes in Christ!

The crush of the culture dulls our minds and perspectives to the clarity of the victory that the follower of Jesus Christ has over sin and death. We must daily be reminded - and remind ourselves and each other - that Life is Christ and Christ is life!

Life can be paralyzing. Sometimes the barrier that is the largest in the one in our mind; the barrier of fear. Fear is our enemy. Decisions based on fear are bad decisions. God has a better way, and it is based on faith in Him. Jacob and his sons discovered this better way. Will you stay stuck in fear or take a faith step today?

There is a critical connection between those who are sent into the world to proclaim God's love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ and those who are the sending ones, supporting the work through partnership, prayer, and resources. Brother Walt encourages us as Sending Ones to consider this pivotal position in God's Rescuing Force.

One's perception of personal identity will define how one views the world and people around. For the Christian, being rooted in Christ will result in reaching out to others with the Gospel hope, the answer of God to the problems which man-made religion feebly attempts to answer.

Warning against giving in to the ways of the world or falling victim to the traditions of people, followed by a resounding Witness of Who Jesus Christ is as the fullness of God's deity.

Reminder of the Christian faith and three word pictures to inspire us to "abound in thanksgiving" in living out the Rescuing Force activities of sharing the Gospel

We read in Ecclesiastes 2:11, Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun. (ESV) And we grunt under the weight of trying harder to accomplish all that is on our “to do” list, especially during these busy days of preparation for Christmas. Then God quietly and gently reaches into our heart and mind and places there a gift, His Gift of the Presence of the Holy Spirit in the midst of the whirlwind of our lives, Who reminds us of the simple Gospel truth. God has come to dwell with us in the Person of Jesus Christ. Believing, one will discover riches of character, faith, growth and relationship in Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving is a peculiar holiday, because we don't always know who to be thankful to. But believers should know, and not only who to be thankful to, but why. It is more than food and family and home, and even more than our personal salvation. Let's see what Paul was thankful for, and calls us to be joyful about as well

One little Greek letter was all that it took to bring the church into controversy about the Person of Jesus Christ. The year was 321 A.D. The key players were Athanasius and Arius. The battleground was Egypt. The outcomes of that time impact us in the church to this day. The answer to the questions of life are ultimately answered in Christ. It’s all about Jesus Christ.

Knowing and doing” go together. If I know something but do not act upon that knowledge, do I really know it? If I do something but do not know why, does my action demonstrate integrity of character? Paul’s prayer for the Colossian Christians in the early 60’s A.D. is a pretty good reminder for the Christian believer in the year 2014. And wouldn't you know it? Knowing and doing come together wonderfully in Jesus Christ. Is your picture of Jesus getting larger or smaller?

“Go make disciples of all nations!” That is the Great Commission rallying cry. Yet, with all of the activity of “as you are going…”, what drives this call from within for the individual, family, church body or movement? To engage in much outreach activity without a strong root system of connectedness with Christ and His body will result in short-sighted outcomes and potentially disastrous results. When we rightly know “Whose we are”, we can know how to answer “Who and How are you?” And this will sink our roots deep so we can reach further as the Rescuing Force.

Our culture says “Win” and this, often at all costs. Our flesh says “Win” and this, often by running over others. The world system opposed to God says “We won!” and this was thought to have happened at the cross of Jesus’s crucifixion. But God has a different word. Jesus says, “Whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” (Luke 9:24b) He can say this because He has won the victory over sin and death (see 1 Corinthians 15:55-57). In Christ is where real life is found. In Christ is where the victory is. Are you in Jesus Christ by trusting in His finished work at the cross? What are you doing to carry your cross daily in following Him, no matter the cost?

Do you struggle with thinking that Christianity is all about lists of "Do's" and "Don'ts"? You might think, "If I want to make God happy then I must obey the list". But God is already settled in His character and attitude, and He is holy love. In response to this, even in the face of difficult circumstances, Christians "get to" serve others with this same love; it is not a duty but a delight which leads back to God in worship.

A look at what the gospel is and how it applies to us.
