  • Q&A #273-

    23/11/2022 Duración: 55min

In our Q&A #273, Pastors Doug, Blake and Kyle discuss some AER and the following:

  • Q&A #272 - Continued gender conversation, existentialism, and more!

    16/11/2022 Duración: 58min

In our Q&A #270, Pastors Doug, Blake and Kyle discuss some AER and the following: 1. Can existentialist ideas belong in the church? This goes largely into the topic of meaning and purpose. Can we create our own meaning through serving Jesus but it’s US who creates it and not Him or is that completely against an attribute of who God is..this maker that takes care of us and ultimately creates us? 2. Gen 1:2 says that the earth was formless and empty. How can something that is created be formless? And what does it mean that such a thing is empty if it has no form? Is there something lost in translation?

  • Q&A #270- One passage summary, Dream vacations, the gender conversation, and more!

    02/11/2022 Duración: 47min

In our Q&A #270, Pastors Doug, Blake and Kyle discuss the following: 1.If you could use 1 verse or passage of scripture to sum up the entire message of the Bible, what would it be and why? 2.If you could go anywhere and do anything what would be your dream vacation? 3. “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Matthew 18:6 If we are told by Jesus here that our children are sacred, then why as a society do we allow things such as abortion and gender reassignment of children? I heard an interesting podcast recently where it was discussed that it is highly possible that there is a relatively large contingent of people, on the "knife" side and patient side, of gender reassignment for example that are narcissistic and as such believe that gender can be decided on whenever we choose and ignore the possibility that temperment differences don't necessarily e

  • Q&A #269- Asking for signs, taking the Lords name in vain, Treasures in Heaven, and more!

    26/10/2022 Duración: 55min

In our Q&A #269, Pastors Blake and Kyle discuss the following: 1. In Matt 16:4, I read that “evil and unfaithful people ask for a sign”. Is this true even today? If I ask for a sign, am I evil and unfaithful? 2. What does it actually mean to take the lords name in vain? 3.Matthew 6 talks about storing up your treasures in Heaven. All the commentaries I've read talk about doing all the things the sermon on the mount says to do and that's how you store up treasure. Jesus's words makes it seem more tangible than acting right here on earth. How would you say we store up treasures in Heaven and what are those treasures? 4.Can you explain sanctification? 5. Can you explain Acts 15:36-41? 6. I’m wondering if you could pick one topic to insert into the Bible that isn’t already covered what would it be? If you could use 1 verse or passage of scripture to sum up the entire message of the Bible, what would it be and why?

  • Q&A #268- Theme verses, altar calls and more

    19/10/2022 Duración: 01h52s

In our Q&A #268, Pastors Doug, Blake and Kyle discuss the following: 1. My wife and I decided to make our family theme for this school year based on Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Easy Peasy right??? WRONG! With the constant divisiveness clearly present again now that we are back to "normal" in our schools, politics, workplace, heck even in our churches...makes this even more important than ever! So I defer to you, how do we do this? In general, but also day by day, minute by minute, meeting by meeting, confrontation by confrontation??? I can google Bible verses about transformation and get the top 100 verses that speak to this, but I'm talking about then taking those and having the rubber hit the road!!? 2. This question is not meant to be critical or judgmental. When we grew up in church at the end of the sermon was always an invit

  • Q&A #266- Was Jesus being harsh, Egypt exodus, Romans 12:12, and maybe more!

    12/10/2022 Duración: 58min

In our Q&A #266, Pastors Doug, Blake and Kyle discuss the following: 1. Is it possible I have a different idea of who Jesus is? I read scriptures where Jesus seems to be “harsh” toward the Pharisees or his disciples . Or scriptures like Mat 12:34and 17:17 I think: is the Jesus I know and experience the same one as this Jesus in the Scripture? I can not recall a time in my life where Jesus was harsh with me. Am I creating a “nicer” Jesus in my head? Is this a problem? Should I strive to create in my mind the most accurate idea of who Jesus is? 2. Is there extra-biblical evidence of the exodus out of Egypt? Secondly, as a Christian, does it matter if there is or isn't? What about to a non-believer? 3. My wife and I decided to make our family theme for this school year based on Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Easy Peasy right??? WRONG!

  • Q&A #266- Actually discussing Churches tax exemptions, enemy manipulations and more

    11/10/2022 Duración: 59min

In our Q&A #266 Pastors Doug and Kyle discuss the following: yy. I’ve noticed that many churches and parachurch organizations make a big deal about having tax exempt status and are sometimes influenced to make changes they may not want to in order to keep that status (sometimes for the better, eg, govt forcing bible schools like Moody to allow people of color to attend). While I understand that from a business standpoint it’s helpful to have the extra funds that would normally be paid in taxes, isn’t this kind of a “give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and give to God what is God’s” scenario? Shouldn’t the church trust that God will provide what is needed for the church, by “the church”? In theory, if every church (and celeb pastor) paid the same taxes as other businesses, there could help lower taxes for everyone else theoretically. Proverbs 30 teaches us to pray for enough. For our daily bread. It just seems ironic that the church, of all groups, would fuss over having to pay the same taxes to “Caesar” as other

  • Q&A #264- Boundaries for leaders, Halloween, "the wicked" and more

    14/09/2022 Duración: 54min

In our Q&A #264 Pastors Blake and Kyle discuss Boundaries for leaders, Halloween, "the wicked" and more 1. At what point are we drawing unnecessary lines or setting unrealistic boundaries/ expectations for our spiritual leaders? I clearly understand and fully support spiritual leaders stepping down for things like sexual misconduct. When looking at cases like Matt Chandler, however, if he did indeed just have a friendship crossing “familiarity lines” should he have been forced to step down? Doesn’t this re-ignite an antiquated argument that men and women cannot be friends? (I do understand we may not have the entire story here, but if we do, then what does this say) 2. You can save this question until it is more timely, but is there a way to approach Halloween mindfully as a Christian? Even if you don’t pull out the ol’ ouija board, is there a demonic presence to be aware of during the holiday? Can you enjoy free candy without enabling evil? 3. In the Psalms, there’s often discussion of “the wicked”, and it

  • Q&A #263- Was Adam intersex, John and sin, and more!

    07/09/2022 Duración: 54min

In our 263rd episode, Blake, and Kyle join as a team to answer feedback from our list 1. What are your thoughts on the theory that "The Adam" would have been intersex? I've recently heard this idea and am curious what, if any, insights you may have about it. 2. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.1 John 3:6-9 My question is is John talking about unconfessed sin or just sin in general? Or is he talking to a specfic sin? If sin in general, then this seems like an unattainable goal for us as broken vessels. I know

  • Q&A #262- Dying to self, the rapture, Jesus' thoughts on the cross, and more!

    31/08/2022 Duración: 56min

In our 262nd episode, Doug, Blake, and Kyle join as a team to answer feedback from our list 1. wish I remembered the page number but early on in a burning in my bones was a story of teenaged Eugene hanging out with an old man at his junkyard or something on weekends and helping with odd jobs. At one point the man makes an inappropriate advance towards Eugene. Then, after safely leaving that situation he continues going back. There’s a note in there saying something along the lines of “knowing it was ill advised to go back” or something like that… ………. so that paragraph got away from me. Question: How do we balance serving others and “dying to self” while also knowing that God loves us and does not desire us to be mentally/emotionally burnt out, physically unhealthy or destitute? 2. In my reading of scripture, I understand we are to be encouraged and comforted by the coming rapture of the church. Wondering what your thoughts/beliefs are on this in light of scripture? 3. I have heard songs and preachers

  • Q&A #261- AER on the Inerrancy of scripture

    24/08/2022 Duración: 59min

In our 261st episode, Doug, Blake, and Kyle join as a team to answer feedback from our list A couple of episodes ago you said the Bible is not inerrant. I am looking for some clarity; In saying that, does that mean the Bible does have errors? Where are the errors? Are they only in the Old Testament, or are Jesus’ words and teachings in doubt too. I am worried if the Bible has errors that I am not sure what security my faith has. How can I follow a god whose guide book could be misleading? How would I learn about that god or how to live? How would I discern, or who could I trust to teach and lead me?

    03/08/2022 Duración: 59min

In Matthew 7:5 Jesus warns against hypocrisy and judging others when you are also living in sin. At what point is it appropriate/necessary to call out the actions of other Christians if none of us are truly free of sin? 3. Is any Sin unforgivable in the eyes of God?

    29/06/2022 Duración: 58min

In our 253rd episode, Doug, and Blake join as a team to discuss the following: 1. John 20:30 says that, after Jesus rose, He performed many other miracles that His disciples saw, and that they were written somewhere so that we would believe in the Messiah. Where is it that these miracles are written? 3. Was Moses wife, Zipporah (from Midian) Arab? Further to my question about Zipporah, what happened to her and their sons, Gershom and Eliezer? I know they were brought to Moses in the desert, but then what? 3. In Roman's 9:17 it says, "For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."We know that God's purpose was to harden Pharaoh's heart. Exodus 4:21, The Lord said to Moses, “When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.So my question is, if God hardens the hea
