We spent a great week at the New England Food Show in Boston with Island Homemade Vermont Ice Cream. We made lots of friends and spread - scooped - the good word to over a thousand industry professionals and ice cream fans who came by. Here is a chat with Chef Paul from Chef Rubber who explained just why our ice cream is so good! Then, in fewer words, we put together two great Vermont tastes - Island Homemade Maple Bacon Ice Cream and Waffle Cabin's real Liege (Belgian) waffles. Yum!

We're tasting a couple of new menu additions - Pomegranate glazed salmon atop celeriac mash alongside confit fennel and celery and grape salad w pine nuts and Chicken harissa – airline breast over red harissa aioli sauce w fresco peppers and Middle Eastern spices and a crust of Mediterranean spices w sesame and sumac cumin coriander and thyme over pearled couscous pineapple chutney topped w grilled carrots. As Chef Tony says a few minutes in, "That's gonna be a good bite!" You'll agree starting in early February when these items and others appear on the Inn's dinner menu. (But don't wait to make your rezzies for Valentine's Day!)

You know how I feel about coffee. When I find exceptional coffee, I have to share. And a great story to go along with it. Meet Bob Kenerson, roast master and proprietor of Lighthouse Coffee Roasters and Cafe in North Kingstown RI. Better yet, stop in for a cup. I like the Castle Hill. That's only one of many varieties including real espresso and coffee drinks and good food too. 

One of the hottest food stories of 2022 has to be about NEON Marketplace in New England. NEON took the idea of elevating convenience dining and is riding that elevator to the top. Bruce has been following the story from the start and welcomed Brand Manager Bahjat Shariff and Food Development Manager Elise Babey to his studio just before the holidays and they showed up with eats and treats and an exciting plan!

Sounds like daytime TV (or an SNL skit goofing on daytime TV). It is two fave celeb chefs and food personalities. Jamie Gwen from LA who is a regular on Food Dude Radio and always has amazing recipes and ideas. Or.."Even The Bumble Wouldn't Pass Up Deer Meat!" So what if we held a Chili Cook-off on the first day of deer season? Well, we did. Kinda forgot, kinda thought it might actually bring in everyone who stayed home from deer camp. We got both! Hunter pulls in with his bagged 193-pound full rack buck in the back of the pickup, and the winner was Hunter's Chili with a secret ingredient. Cabot Creamery and Island Homemade Vermont Ice Cream made it all possible with celebrity judges from WVMT NewsTalk Radio and our host the incredible Spanked Puppy in Colchester VT headed up by Ted and Kristine Tomlinsen.
