Mental illness affects 20% of the world's population. Childhood trauma is now directly tied to severe public health consequences, as it significantly increases the likelihood of of America's top causes of early death. Paul Gilmartin of the Mental Illness Happy Hour has interviewed hundreds of people from all walks of life about living with mental illness. In this episode of TechCares, Paul sheds light on the stigmas that still prevent people from being honest about their personal struggles, and together we grapple with the reality of how our traumas still affect our day to day lives.

Harlan Seymour is the widower of the late Jennifer Glass, who was diagnosed with lung cancer just four months after they were married. Jennifer's public advocacy for Death With Dignity was a significant factor in the passing of the End of Life Option Act in California in October 2015. Unfortunately, Jennifer died in August 2015, before the Act was voted into law. Harlan Seymour talks about how Jennifer's last days would have been different, and how Jennifer's advocacy helped change the landscape for the rest of us.
